What is a Network Transport System?
A Network Transport System is a set of cabling and connectivity products that integrates the voice, data, video and various management systems of a building.

What is BICSI?
The Building Industry Consulting Service International, Inc. (BICSI) is a professional association supporting the information transport systems industry with information, education, and knowledge assessment for individuals and companies.  BICSI members provide the fundamental infrastructure for telecommunications, audio/video, life safety and automation.  Through courses, conferences, publications and professional registration programs, BICSI staff and volunteers assist members in delivering the highest quality products and services and offer opportunities for continual improvement and enhanced professional stature.

BICSI was founded in 1977 to serve telephone company building industry consultants (BICs) responsible for the design and distribution of telecommunications wiring for commercial and multi-family buildings.  As the industry changed and converged, so did BICSI.  In 1996, BICSI responded with the development of the commercial Telecommunications Cabling Installation Training and Registration Program.

In 2004, the widespread use of Internet Protocol (IP) prompted BICSI’s redirection from telecommunications to an information transport systems (ITS) focus.  At that time, BICSI renamed its installation program to the BICSI Information Transport Systems (ITS) Installation Training and Registration Program.
