Video scalers are designed to enhance the video quality of an image that has to be resized to fit a specific screen. A video scalar converts a video signal between arbitrary resolutions. It is mainly used to convert interlaced signals of low resolution into higher resolution.
Video scalers are available for analogue and digital inputs and outputs or, more commonly, both combined. A scalar can increase the resolution substantially.
